family marietta family mariettaSharing a session from this summer in Marietta.  It was this little guy’s 3 year old pictures and his Mom wanted to capture his great love of trains.  He was super serious and you could see the wheels turning in his head at all times.  My boys loved trains and I miss those days when you were always aware anytime you saw trains or even the tracks. I loved this one’s curiosity and luckily Dad was very diligent in following and keeping up with him. We took advantage of the occasion to capture some family portraits while we were at it. It was great to see who this family has become since their last professional photo session. family mariettaThe picture below is one of my favorites of this year. I love the relationship between Mom and daughter and I’m glad I was with them in the moment to capture this. It is “so them.” 🙂 family marietta

Ideas on what colors you can wear for your family to look their very best!

atlanta late summer colorful clothing ideas

We are officially back in school but in my mind it will still be summer for a couple of more months.

Here are some colorful ideas of what you can wear together as a family that will contrast well against the green grass and trees of summer.  My best advice is to start as early as possible in the summer for your sessions with young children. The humidity alone is tough in summer months, however, it is still a popular time to hold a family photography session and it can be done successfully.  If your children are older go for late afternoons for the wonderful, dreamy light a sunset provides.

Use my What-To-Wear Pinterest Board listed below for many many more options during all seasons of the year.  I also have clothing samples specifically for families using the tab on the upper left side of this website.

Family love all around

Family LoveWhat a beautiful park for this session…oh no, not a park.  It is their beautiful home with plenty of room for two little boys to run and climb. This family can’t help but remind me of our family when my boys were younger and I tried to keep them as busy as possible (and they kept me even busier!). They are waiting on little sister to join them next month and then the fun will really begin! I can’t wait to see if she is as smart, talkative and curious as her big brothers. I hope she will wear a big bow in her hair even if she chases right behind them up the Magnolia Tree. Family LoveThe picture Mom will treasure most. All those boys will forever adore her!

Having Fun

Father Father Father

Father’s Day Fun

I don’t always get around to sharing all of my sessions online so in honor of Father’s Day I went back a few months to find one showcasing Dad. The images I captured definitely showed all personalities in this family with Dad being thoughtful as well as goofy and silly with the kids. What great memories to remember Dad rolling in the grass and having fun.

We saw Pixar’s Inside Out on Friday when it opened. Not to give too much away, but when the main character, Riley, lost her goofball-ness I teared up a little. Men seem to hold on to their goofball personalities more than most ladies and it is fun to see how being a Dad can really bring it out of them.

As a side note: We saw Inside Out at the newly remodeled AMC at Parkway Point. I probably would have been a fan of the reserved seating had I been anywhere except the first row.  Two thumbs up for the reclining seats and lumbar pillow. I’m a fan of few animated movies but this one was pretty good. If you cried at Toy Story 3, you will probably tear up (or weep) with this one too. I would say that it’s just me but the Mom next to me was wiping her eyes a LOT.  A good movie to see this summer especially since you can take the whole family.

Happy Father’s Day!

If you don’t have big Father’s Day Fun planned IMDb has a list of the best movies to watch with Dad. Hide away inside and take in one of these Father-Flicks here. Field of Dreams is #1 and that is tolerable although I would still pick anything with Will Ferrell first!

clothing for guys

Clothing for Guys |  Spring & Summer Style for Men

Clothing for Guys:  Trends for Spring 2015 use the annual color set by Pantone which is Marsala.  Men’s Designer, Gents, predicts “Warm undertones of Blue, Gray, Navy and Sangre (Red)” will be the prominent colors of 2015 for men. Think of the athletic, masculine elements of the sport of boxing and the clean lines and colors of Formula One racing. I like this example because it is just as Gents intended, being seasonless, universally classic and not trendy.  It is perfect for now as well as Summer and Fall. See more at Pantone.com.

These colors will translate well for Senior Guy portrait sessions. I love all neutrals with pops of the red. The sporting theme works well and would look great on a baseball field and look more masculine and “cool” than typical Spring and Summer pastels. Senior pictures for guys always look natural and best fit their personality when they are in their sports uniforms or jeans and casual wear.

baseball-player-boy baseball-senior-boy springbaseballboySpring Baseball is well underway except for so many rain delays this Spring.  I really love baseball-inspired pictures and love Little League ball games more and more every year. My oldest son has had a broken arm all month and we are anxious for him to get back on the field in May.
