My Vintage Bride

I was going through wedding pictures tonight and decided I would go ahead and share this one before the “real” post! This was 2 weeks ago and not 80 years ago in case you were wondering. A lovely, timeless couple.

The Georgia Bridal Show is this weekend at the Cobb Galleria.  I think I attended this when I was engaged to be married…a long time ago. 🙂  There are many vendors that will be in attendance and many will be great options and ideas for reception locations in Atlanta. That is always a big one to decide on!

If you miss this show, there will be other ones in the metro-Atlanta area in June, August and September.

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday:

Dr. Seuss Snacks and Party Ideas by The Dating Divas.

In all you do is offering free Dr. Seuss printables and activities for kids.

We are making Cat in the Hat HATS with slices of strawberries and bananas.  We love reading Dr. Seuss books.  However, Kate recently had the question “What character from a book would you NOT want to meet?” and her response was “The Cat in the Hat!”  I guess he is better left on the pages!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

There are very few places we know of that offer immediate shelter to those being exploited. I read about one in a magazine recently and was so impressed by The Well House in Birmingham, Alabama. I was touched by the lady, Tajuan McCarty, who was rescued and eventually started this center to help others. I can’t find a link to the article I found but have THIS ONE that gives info on her background.  At The Well House, women can receive Christian counseling, housing and other support to transition them into a better life.  You can learn a lot about human trafficking and how to spot it from their website and you can donate to them if you are interested in helping people on a local level.  They have a wishlist on AMAZON.com to purchase items needed (I love that). You know what tangible item you are actually contributing.

Susan Norris’ Links to Organizations Fighting in one way or another:  Get Involved

Susan Norris writes in this article what has crossed my mind. With the new Braves Stadium coming to Cobb County, I hope our police officers will get extra training on this matter from the beginning. Major sporting events bring large numbers of people and human traffickers take advantage of this.  Its not just a global problem but exists right here in Cobb County. Just yesterday 15 were arrested in Atlanta from a major smuggling ring and the AJC writes this “

Oscar Oscar… (I always hear Billy Crystal’s song when I think of the Oscars – a curse!)

It’s Oscar Weekend! You can find a full ballot to pick your winners and follow along with Sunday night’s show HERE.

If you are like me, you haven’t seen most of the movies (or maybe one?). It’s not too late if you want to catch up and take part in AMC’s great opportunity to see several of the movies all in one day for discounted price. Visit AMC HERE to get more info and buy tickets for Saturday. Keep this in mind for Feburary 2016.

Here is the line-up for Saturday, February 21st:

BOYHOOD (R): 10:00am

(Go out for lunch and come back!)

THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING (PG-13): 1:05pm

THE IMITATION GAME (PG-13): 3:30pm

AMERICAN SNIPER (R): 6:25pm

OR you can choose the Marathon option and see 8 movies.  Warning – the last one starts at 3:45AM!

The only movie I have seen is The Grand Budapest Hotel which I saw on a plane and fell asleep before it was over. It is the last movie playing and you will probably have the same experience if you do the Marathon.

I’m guessing you are only interested in the Red Carpet and what people are wearing.  If that is the case, you will like this infographic and more info about fashion found HERE.

A fun game you can play on Oscar night can be found at B. Nute Productions. There is free download of the Acceptance Speech game. It will help make the boring speeches more tolerable.

Visit SecondCitySoiree for this fun Red Carpet Bingo Game. You can use their squares or download a blank one to fill in yourself.

Lastly, if you are a Mom wanting to throw a party for your children or a Teenager wanting to do something with your friends for Oscar Night, check out TeenPartyIdeas.com. It is rather un-Pinterest-worthy but does have realistic ideas written about by Moms and Teens who threw actual Oscar Parties. Good tips for a last minute thing.

Love is…

It is still February, a love-ly month and I have come together with some other fabulous photographers to post today about LOVE. You can see all of them below with a variety of posts about love. They will inspire you!

Love is…family. To me it is all about the friends and family in your life, right? Nothing else matters without relationships. That is one reason I love being a photographer so much. I love to capture emotion, relationship and what togetherness means for families.

Guess we better go right to the source for what love really is: Corinthians.  I like what Lysa TerKeurst has to say about this verse. Instead of reading it as what you are supposed to feel, read it as if these things are decisions that you make. Love is a decision and not always a romantic-movie feeling.  I don’t know about you, but I routinely mess up most of what is listed on a regular basis!

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

I did this for me and thought I might as well share.

My favorite love verses in one place.

1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Romans 12:9-10
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Mark 12:30
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 13:4-13
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

All are New International Version.
