Valentine’s Day is almost here! I have pulled together some ideas and favorite things to share. I hope you get some inspiration on cute Valentine gifts and activities.  Or just have fun looking!

Starting out, The Modern Roost has Valentine decorating ideas and also Four Free Downloads to make your own cards for you or your children. (Picture Left)

“Be Loved” and pink and purple flower heart are both iron-on transfers available for download at www.napcp.com (National Association of Child Photographers). Both are FREE and have instructions on how to make this DIY craft yourself. I would love to see matching sisters in this! (Picture Below)

These free downloadable cards are adorable. You can find them HERE along with TWO other cute freebie Valentine Cards. (Picture Left)

Try using any of the downloads you see as Gift Tags instead of traditional cards. Short on Ink Cartridges? Email a love note!

For a very quick gift, choose these free Valentine Love coupon bundles you can print yourself. They are found at the Elli Blog. (Picture Below)

Art-Humanscale-S-24x24Minted Art Prints (Pictures Left) are wall prints in various sizes. I can’t add them to my storefront of favorites with Minted but you can search “art prints” and see lots of cool things with framing options and wall gallery samples. I especially love the gold foil Georgia print. I think giving something with one of the city maps or states can be special and meaningful for a loved one as well as beautiful for your wall. On my front page Minted storefront, see my favorite classroom cards perfect for children to hand out to friends.  You can go through all of these and see some ideas for attachments on your own cards (pencils, lollipops, cookies, candy, etc.).  Also take a look at the “stickers” section for cute things that can be used year round.

Now on to the good stuff. Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday this year so a special breakfast is a must.  The Chef Mom has some cute ideas to try.  I think even I can attempt the cinnamon rolls (pre-packaged, of course).

Shari’s Berries is one of my favorites to receive. Chocolate covered strawberries are always good and you can get a package delivered for less than a bouquet of flowers will cost you. Beware, you might have to share with your kids or at least fight them off.

I’m so happy to have had the chance to spend a few days with 50 other professional child photographers recently at the 2015 National Association of Child Photographers’ (NAPCP) Retreat in Whistler, British Columbia.  The biggest advantage to this kind of photography conference is meeting other people in my industry to share and learn from each other. After being in business for 8+ years, I am always looking for new motivation and inspiration to keep growing as an artist. It was my first time in Canada! Whistler was really beautiful and not the frigidly cold place we were all expecting. We saw huge pillowy snowflakes our first day there and Tubing was a special treat (I’m giving up skiing…sorry). On to some highlight photos from my trip.  Except for a few iPhone 6 images, all were taken with my small Fuji X100T. The traveling was rough and it was easier to not have my big camera especially since it wasn’t a photography conference focused on shooting.

baby boy wild thing costumeIf you want to know where the wild things are…it’s right here!  I’m catching up on some session-shares this month that I failed to post at the end of 2014 and hoping 2015 is off with a bang for you! family boy costume holidayIs this little one the cutest or what? With a Halloween costume this fantastic, we had to get a great picture of him dressed up even if he was about to outgrow it.  A great Etsy find by Mom based on the book Where the Wild Things Are. baby boy outside red family outside red baby family with baby coldThis session was one of my last of 2014.  I could only fit them in on a very cold a frigid morning – thank goodness for some warm sun that day.  Babies don’t usually mind the cold too much and the parents were dressed for the cold so it was awesome.  Don’t you know they looked perfect on their Christmas Cards this year! Best of all they have now have a beautiful wall gallery to show moments from this fun day so they can always remember their family at such a special time.  The framed gallery incorporates images from this day, their wedding and newborn session with a plan to grow so they can add other milestone moments or hopefully one day little brother or sister pictures. 🙂  If you have an empty wall, I can make this happen for you easily too.

Happy New Year!

christmas-kids-santa chrstimas with santa santa-visit-atlantaMerry Christmas from our house to yours!

2014 is marked for me as the third and last time I have a first grader who has memorized Luke for Christmas. I love to hear Kate recite this:

And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

one year old girlI love these little blondies and you will too. They are such sweet girls which could be because they have awesome parents. I was glad I got some hugs in with them! what to wear christmas picture pop of redAre you looking for a perfectly coordinated family picture?  A fantastic Christmas Card picture? This is an idea to give you inspiration for your Holiday Cards or just a great picture around your Christmas tree. The rules here apply for any great family picture: start with a neutral base color to dress everyone in.  Here it is gray and some denim – lots of variations of these colors in different textures and shades.  Now Add one person in a bright pop of color.  Here you see Red but it could be orange, yellow or even bright green.  Use that same pop of color you have choosen to accessorize others in the group.  Chunky textured scarves are wonderful as well as bracelets, headbands, shoes and hats.

This sampling would be wonderful in an outside picture with pops of red to really show the spirit of the Season.  When indoors, think of competing colors and what your home decor looks like.

I have storefronts to purchase Christmas Cards with TinyPrints and also Minted.  Both currently have great sales going on and have options for this color scheme on the first page.

It is the most wonderful time of the year! My favorite.  Merry Christmas!
