Consignment Selling 2.0

Why didn’t i think of this before?

No more begging for wire coat hangers.  I just purchased  100 Wire Hangers 18″ Standard White Clothes Hangers  from Amazon (PRIME!). It will take away from my profit a little but at least I won’t run out.

I will hit the dollar store for my safety pins.

If you are a major consignment seller, begging for hangers still may be the route to go. Enlist a spouse, mother or whoever you can.  Make friends with your Drycleaner… they can really hook you up.

I no longer consider myself a major seller but more of a major-donator. (Hello, Goodwill). If you are in the season of selling your baby stuff see my article here for tips to make major cash.

Serious about it? You should consider a Hanging Garment Rack  if you don’t already have one. It will make things easier to sort.

My favorite local consignment sales in the Smyrna Marietta Cumberland area of Metro Atlanta are:

CCC Mops – Cumberland Community Church – deadline for seller registration is coming up fast.

Kindermart –  Sale is March 18th & 19th / First United Methodist Church of Smyrna, 1315 Concord Road

Happy Selling!

senior sessiona styled senior session for valentine’s day senior session atlanta-senior-girls senior session senior session

Sharing a little fun with you to celebratae Valentine’s Day!

The NAPCP Retreat last month had a fun styled Senior Session for girls. I mostly opened packages of confetti and glitter (and then tried to pick up the mess I made!).  I was happy I was able to get a few shots of my own and thought I would share them on this Valentine’s weekend.  This was a fun set up using a lot of Target dollar store goodies and a few things from Amazon too. I think the real key to a gorgeous session is professional hair and makeup. These girls were professionally made up and styled and it shows. If you are scheduling your very special, once-in-a-lifetime Senior Portrait Session, I would highly recommend it. Oh, and add a little music too. 🙂

retreatCan you believe I have lived in Atlanta for as many years as I have and had never been to Reynold’s Plantation? I was there for a week last month and what a treat it was! The National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) had their annual retreat close to home this year which made it extra special for many of us. I was on staff working most of the time but still soaked up lots of great information and best of all saw a lot of photographer-friends I only get to see in person once a year. If you are a photographer specializing in children (newborn/families) or seniors, plan on attending one of these “Retreats” in the future. georgia-photography atlanta-senior-lightThere were Styled Senior Shoots with Amanda Holloway, Sarah Lane and Tash Haynes. An adorable Valentine’s Day theme that our models rocked! Dan Brouillette demonstrated lighting for everyone and showed his expertise.   We Periscoped a lot during the week for NAPCP and and Tash had these girls on the spot! They were thrown into the fire of Periscope but had fun watching the reply of themselves on my phone. 🙂 georgia-photographersNAPCP Prides themselves on lots of small details. georgia-photographer FOGo-BlogThe view of the Lake was amazing.

I hung out over my balcony and tried to take shots like the one above at sunrise and sunset most days using my Fuji X100.

I missed my family while I was gone but I have to admit, re-entry to life outside of the Ritz Carlton was pretty tough. It was easy to get used to everything (especially food) being prepared for you. And you can’t beat the easily accessible spa!

family atlanta thank you

Just a few of my favorite families

February is here and I am still writing the wrong year. It is already flying by! It is never too late to thank all my clients who continually trust me to capture their growing families year after year. I love them all in their various sizes and stages and I hope they will remember 2015 fondly when they look at their beautiful portraits.  Thank you for making last year an amazing experience and 2016 so far is just as great for Lisa Phillipson Photography. 🙂

I’m looking forward to everything 2016 holds for my photography business. Just like the families I photograph, my business grows and changes and there is always something exciting going on. I will be scheduling families again by the end of February and that is where my heart really is. So far this year I have created several albums for clients that I am now waiting to arrive. I love holding something tangible as a great reminder of a fun session. I also photographed my friend, Luke Lantta, for a political campaign which was something different for me but a pleasure to do. I have another Our Town photo shoot next week and I can’t wait to reveal which family will be on the March cover! More on all of this soon including a recap of my time at the Ritz Carlton, Reynold’s Plantation for the National Association of Professional Child Photographers annual conference.

Happy New Year!

(Late on social media but see this post to know I at least ordered my Valentine’s Day cards on time!)

2016 colors of the year from pantone

The colors of the year have been announced by Pantone and oh dear, they are pastels: Rose Quartz and Serentiy.

Oh but wait there is more!

I’m starting to feel better now…

“Vivid brights give way to excitement and optimism, though quiet stability prevails in this season’s palette.” You can check out the Pantone website to see more options including iced latte and the very popular gray. These look great with big pops of color and continue to be good options for outdoor portraits in Spring and Summer.

Try rose quartz and serenity if you like the more neutral look in portraits that can be so timeless.
