I had a fun session with this Smyrna Family.  The evening colors were amazing this day and I loved the purples and blues we picked out for them to wear.  There were too many good ones to choose from but I thought the ones of Riley and her Mom were really special.  Often as mothers we want to capture our children and remember how they were when they were young.  It is a gift for us.  I think it is also such a gift to a child to have pictures of US while we are young too!  I know Riley will treasure the images that show how much her Mom loves her long into adulthood and forever.

Mom did a great job of getting the family pulled together and on time for a photo session.  At the end of it she had to pick up Riley’s friend and host a spend-the-night birthday party with several girls.  I can appreciate the stress of all of this and thought I would note it on my blog for the world to know how super she is.  I am a terrible party-thrower and avoid them for my own children so I regret not having a glass of wine for her.  🙂

Congrats, Riley, for making it to Double Digits!  Just like it was for my family this week, a major milestone for you AND your Mom!  Riley and my Evan have gone to church and pre-school together since they were itty-bitty and I’m so happy to see how nice they have both grown up.  They will be having their Senior Pictures taken before we know it (boo!).

Note: In general, almost all mommys hate the way they look in pictures.  Especially a mommy that just had a baby will feel this way!  I also cringe when I have to be in front of camera.  All I have to say about it is that in 50 (or even) 20 years you will think you looked great!

We were capturing sweet Julianna at 18 months and while she is still the baby of the family.  I can’t wait to see what baby #3 for this family is going to be like.  Just like my middle child, Julianna was born to be in the middle and a little on the crazy side.  I love her – one of my all time favorite little girls and who wouldn’t die for those curls?

I love the belly shots…one kid shows their belly and they all have to show it.  🙂

We had beautiful light this morning.  You would think it was late afternoon and not middle of the morning from the looks of the warm yellow light in the background. This session was to mark this little girl at two years old.  I don’t think her brother was originally coming and I told Mom he just had to (why not catch him at 4?).  They were both just as precious and sweet as these images show them to be.  Full of life and fun – we discovered many things on this Fall morning.  The top image above is one of my favorites and I was so glad it was his Mom’s too.  It will be one of her framed pieces on her wall in a collection of espresso brown Organic Bloom frames (my favorite) and I can’t wait to see it!

And so we don’t overshadow our sweet 2 year old girl, here are some more of her.  I love her in blue but doesn’t the other dress just scream FALL to you?  It is great how different color clothing, lighting and your setting can change the look of a picture.

It has been a busy week with 3 times the usual number of sessions for me (it is Fall/Holiday Season) and a day of packaging up many orders to be delivered.  A great day on the business front but I was most proud of taking some time to catch my own kids in action this afternoon.  Tomorrow Kate turns 4 and she is my absolute joy in life.  Such a sweet girl that played the piano (badly) and sang songs for me all afternoon.  I hope I never forget how she jumped around in such excitement talking about her “Belle and Football” party she is having tomorrow at my Aunt’s house.  This is her in her favorite green shirt that is a little too small for her.  She wears it any day I can not talk her out of it.  She wears a “pony” to school just for show to impress her girl-friends and then rips it out before the day is over.  She hides her eyes at night and whispers to me that she is worried about “the crickets” and listens to Laughing Pizza in order to fall asleep.  Love love love this age.  Wish I could bottle it up and keep it forever!

Happy Birthday, Kate, Canon!

Is it really Fall now?  It snuck up on me somehow.  All the Maple trees in my neighborhood are already turning red which I love.  I also love this cool weather we are having but I will miss this green grass.  Thankfully the leaves are coming.  🙂

I love the smirk on this little girl’s face.  It makes me smile.  She did a great job of giving me a story to tell when we played in Marietta one morning.  Her Mom will soon be getting a gorgeous custom album to hold on to these memories forever.  My own little Kate isn’t much older than this and I know I just want to bottle her up and keep it forever.  I’m glad we got these great images of this cutie to always remember her Summer…especially now that is over!

Happy Fall, Y’all.

Sometimes sessions in the back yard are just perfect and the most fun.

Going to this sweet girl’s house was like going home.  Her Mommy is from my home state of Alabama and an Auburn fan too.  I felt like I had known her for a long time and later found out this sweet girl was in the same dance camp as my little girl.  My Alabama girls almost always love a more traditional picture.  They lean towards white dresses and bows and I have to admit that I love it too.  I think I tell almost every client to “stay away from white” and “don’t be afraid of color” but you will find plenty of baby pictures of my own kids in white at my house.  I can’t help it.  The nice thing about having plenty of time in one of my sessions is that you can change clothes and dress your kids in a more formal outfit and still add color and have fun, trendier play clothes as well.  I love for my clients to have more of a variety of images and looks to choose from.  It was easy at this session for several clothing changes and breaks from the summer heat with it being right in the back yard.

Little Miss Personality Plus didn’t hurt for a fun session either!
