Another newborn session share from my Marietta studio to make you smile.  This sweet little one was so handsome and by the looks of his parents you can see why.  I just love his little lips!

Below is a view of a black distressed Organic Bloom frame that his Mom chose to frame one of the black and white images from our session.  Most of the families I meet say they will probably move in the next couple of years so this black or any neutral frame is great to have because it will look wonderful anywhere.  It is very classic.  These frames also come with an optional glaze and a gold or silver glaze would really dress it up.  I have a black frame with a silver glaze on the way that I can’t wait to share.  It will frame a white invitation and is going to look great.

When you have an ordering session with me, it is my goal to make it very easy for you to get framed images on your wall.  I know it can be overwhelming especially if you think you might move in the near future or just don’t know what to do.  I have a lot of experience walking people through this process and in the end they have beautiful wall art they can enjoy every day.  In the last 3 weeks I JUST framed my own newborn image of my NOW 4 year old.  Her sweet baby picture is just now framed and hanging on the wall!  I don’t want any other new mom to have to wait as long as I did and in hindsight I wish I had walked away with a framed image ready to hang.  At least it is up now – it is never too late!

I had a fun session with this Smyrna Family.  The evening colors were amazing this day and I loved the purples and blues we picked out for them to wear.  There were too many good ones to choose from but I thought the ones of Riley and her Mom were really special.  Often as mothers we want to capture our children and remember how they were when they were young.  It is a gift for us.  I think it is also such a gift to a child to have pictures of US while we are young too!  I know Riley will treasure the images that show how much her Mom loves her long into adulthood and forever.

Mom did a great job of getting the family pulled together and on time for a photo session.  At the end of it she had to pick up Riley’s friend and host a spend-the-night birthday party with several girls.  I can appreciate the stress of all of this and thought I would note it on my blog for the world to know how super she is.  I am a terrible party-thrower and avoid them for my own children so I regret not having a glass of wine for her.  🙂

Congrats, Riley, for making it to Double Digits!  Just like it was for my family this week, a major milestone for you AND your Mom!  Riley and my Evan have gone to church and pre-school together since they were itty-bitty and I’m so happy to see how nice they have both grown up.  They will be having their Senior Pictures taken before we know it (boo!).

Note: In general, almost all mommys hate the way they look in pictures.  Especially a mommy that just had a baby will feel this way!  I also cringe when I have to be in front of camera.  All I have to say about it is that in 50 (or even) 20 years you will think you looked great!

Happy Holidays!  With all the wonderful Black Friday deals out there I thought I would have one of my own.  I’m extending my Christmas deadline for Gorgeous Kotori photo jewelry, key rings and Christmas ornaments until December 1st.  After that Rush Fees will apply. These hand-made sterling silver products make the perfect gift!

Email me this weekend if you are interested and orders place by Monday will receive an additional 15% discount.

I’m going to have a new Christmas ornament made for myself this year.  They are waterproof and UV resistant, never tarnish and have the year engraved on the back.  With my discount you can have your favorite image from a session with me for $47 (plus tax).  It will be a beautiful heirloom keepsake that I can hand down to my children one day.  If you have ever seen how my children “help” me decorate our tree, you will know why I need high quality products!

I  was fortunate enough to photograph Sweet Baby Lyon soon after he was born.  I love him.  His Mommy, Alice Park, is a friend that is also an Atlanta photographer so several us let her sit back one morning and photograph her new baby.  You can check out Alice’s blog and follow Project Lyon and see how big this little guy is getting.  I think this is a fabulous idea any new mother can do with her newborn.  The moments go fast so keep that camera on hand at all times!

It will be hard to duplicate the beauty and sense of humor of Alice’s post but it gives me inspiration to document more little moments with my own children, in particular my youngest.  I have volumes of thick albums detailing every moment and activity of my boys’ young lives.  I have not one entry written in Kate’s baby book.  I started my business around the time I had her so life, work and 3 kids got away from me fast.  This wasn’t meant to be a confessional but at least we can always start where we are.  It is never too late.

In case you were wondering…Little Lyon did not have a big roar.  He was so sweet and easy.  I don’t think he ever even cried.  🙂

This is such a sweet family and I’m so glad I got to capture them having a little fun with their kids.  Having a new baby and a 2 year old little boy can be very challenging at times (I speak from experience).  There is so much work and exhaustion.  There is also a lot of joy  and laughter and I think you can see that in this family.  They adore their kids and these images will only become more precious as the years go by.

I hope everyone is enjoying their families this summer.  I had LOTS of time with my family at Disney and some of it was even fun (ha).  More on that later.

I’ll be out of the office again through the weekend for a REAL vacation and look forward to my upcoming baby sessions next week!  I’ll be sure to answer all emails by Monday.

Spring Wear for Atlanta Photo Sessions

I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of the cold and I’m ready to move on to warmer weather.  Some flowers please.  My boys pumped their fists on Ground Hog Day when they found out Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.  That is official enough for us so we will take it.  Hope.

I love Anthropologie so I thought I would share some of their Spring wear to give us both some hope that we won’t have to bundle up to go outside soon.  Have you seen the new store at Westside Urban Market?  I drove by it drooling last week when I was on another mission with my husband. I thought it would be more fun to go back without him.  I might need the whole day.

I have booked many sessions that I am looking forward to in March and April.  I can’t wait to see some pastels and Springy colors on my Moms and I am imagining Jonquils and Spring flowers everywhere.  Fingers crossed!  I can’t wait!

Until then, stay warm!
