I was excited to be the feature photographer for Our Town Magazine this month.  They have a cover story on one of my favorite clients, little Charlie-Bear.  His parents, Doctors Alex & Leslie Patrick, have a great Dental Practice in the Smyrna Vinings area.  It is at the corner of Cooper Lake and the East/West Connector.  I’ve gotten to know this family over the past year and think the world of them.  They are so professional and still very personable that I want to recommend them to all my friends.  You can tell them I sent you!

Check out my Our Town bio here.

Hello

and

Goodbye

Little Eva did not stay in her shell and hide this day.  She came out to play and like most all of the 20 month olds I see, ran and ran and ran.  I know toddlers at this age are going to run as far as they can and never look back.  Too many places to go and things to see (and not to mention the energy!).  I had to laugh with her outfit changes when her Mom had to chase her down naked and wrestle to get clothes on her.  What a joy she is!  I bet there is a lot of laughter in her home and, of course, a great workout trying to keep up with her!

I’m especially happy for people when they have little children in their homes at Christmas time.  Everything seems a little more fun and exciting.

Merry Christmas!

I wanted to make sure Riley’s little brother got equal time on my blog.  He is quite the Ham and has such a fun personality.  He loves his big sister SO much and it shows.  He certainly completes this family and my favorite thing is how they all laugh at his silly faces and little-boy-antics.  From experience, I have to say a good sense of humor is a must in raising little boys.  🙂

I had a fun session with this Smyrna Family.  The evening colors were amazing this day and I loved the purples and blues we picked out for them to wear.  There were too many good ones to choose from but I thought the ones of Riley and her Mom were really special.  Often as mothers we want to capture our children and remember how they were when they were young.  It is a gift for us.  I think it is also such a gift to a child to have pictures of US while we are young too!  I know Riley will treasure the images that show how much her Mom loves her long into adulthood and forever.

Mom did a great job of getting the family pulled together and on time for a photo session.  At the end of it she had to pick up Riley’s friend and host a spend-the-night birthday party with several girls.  I can appreciate the stress of all of this and thought I would note it on my blog for the world to know how super she is.  I am a terrible party-thrower and avoid them for my own children so I regret not having a glass of wine for her.  🙂

Congrats, Riley, for making it to Double Digits!  Just like it was for my family this week, a major milestone for you AND your Mom!  Riley and my Evan have gone to church and pre-school together since they were itty-bitty and I’m so happy to see how nice they have both grown up.  They will be having their Senior Pictures taken before we know it (boo!).

Note: In general, almost all mommys hate the way they look in pictures.  Especially a mommy that just had a baby will feel this way!  I also cringe when I have to be in front of camera.  All I have to say about it is that in 50 (or even) 20 years you will think you looked great!

We had beautiful light this morning.  You would think it was late afternoon and not middle of the morning from the looks of the warm yellow light in the background. This session was to mark this little girl at two years old.  I don’t think her brother was originally coming and I told Mom he just had to (why not catch him at 4?).  They were both just as precious and sweet as these images show them to be.  Full of life and fun – we discovered many things on this Fall morning.  The top image above is one of my favorites and I was so glad it was his Mom’s too.  It will be one of her framed pieces on her wall in a collection of espresso brown Organic Bloom frames (my favorite) and I can’t wait to see it!

And so we don’t overshadow our sweet 2 year old girl, here are some more of her.  I love her in blue but doesn’t the other dress just scream FALL to you?  It is great how different color clothing, lighting and your setting can change the look of a picture.

I hope you find me at the Jonquil Festival this weekend in Smyrna.  I’ll be at a booth with Easy Edges displaying frames, albums and other fun stuff.  Above are some pictures of Easy Edges handmade clothing.  You know the Auburn dresses have to be my favorite thing.  I think the tie t-shirts for little boys are pretty cute too.

The Turkey and Pumpkin shirts are adorable (AND the Pants go with my Auburn shirt)!

Children grow up so fast.  I think it is fun to splurge on these cute custom made clothes while you can still get away with it.

Hope to see you this weekend.  It is supposed to be beautiful Fall weather and a great time to walk around downtown Smyrna and see your friends.  You might as well get a big jump on your Christmas shopping too. 🙂
